Looking to get more involved? You’re in luck–we’ve got lots of great opportunities.
Gifted Youth Coordinator: We are looking for someone to volunteer to be our Gifted Youth Coordinator. Young Mensans (under 18) are one of the fastest-growing segments of Mensa’s membership; one of the first two Special Interest Groups recognized in 1965 focused on their unique issues. Currently, American Mensa has more than 2,800 members under the age of 18 with the youngest being 2 years old. To serve Young Mensans and their families, American Mensa has a full-time Gifted Youth Specialist who supports Young Mensan services and resources. Additionally, Local Groups have Gifted Youth Coordinators who serve as resource guides and also often plan activities specifically for Young Mensans.
Mensa Cares Coordinator (North Country): MoNNY covers a large geographic region and we are trying to get more activities in the northern portion of our region. In the past, we have regularly volunteered at the Capital Region Foodbank and are looking to start some similar activities in the northern area (Plattsburgh, Lake Placid, Glens Falls, etc). The activities or charities can be local to the region or specific needs of the area.
Area Coordinators: As mentioned previously, MoNNY covers a wide area and activities in Albany might not be convenient for members living in Warrensburg or Plattsburg. Area Coordinators focus on developing member activities for their geographic areas. An example of such activities (when the world gets back to normal) would be a local pub trivia night, game night, book club or happy hour.
RechaRGe Committee Member: Planning for our local 2022 RG has begun! If you are interested in helping to plan the event, please let us know and we can add you to the planning meetings.
If you are interested in any of these roles, please reach out to Kerry at Monny.firstname.lastname@example.org
